Ilse's Journal OVA

warning: may contain spoilers!

today i shall be giving my opinion on the Attack On Titan OVA, Ilse's Diary # Journal # Notebook (otherwise known as Ilse No Techou).
i had watched this long before writing this post but i just recently re-watched it out of pent-up urgency. and might i say, the feels that ensued only a minute into the thing *shakes head* it was overwhelming. my sister said she felt it too, the nostalgic excitement, the butterflies in your tummy, the warm butter sliding down a hot toast feeling... its too much to handle.
firstly i must recommend this to everyone on earth who is an SNK # AOT fan, then secondly i must retract that recommendation in-case you havent read the manga. in the manga chapter this comes alot earlier on then in the anime, it also says it contains no spoilers, but i beg to differ. i feel it does contain a light sprinkling of spoilers and is not suited for the weak-hearted. but if you are all caught-up on that side of life or feel it will not destroy further happiness when season 2 is released, go right ahead!

moving on. DEM FEELS! after weeks- no, months of deprivation this really satisfied my needs. it gives you a look into how Hanji Zoe tries to convince Erwin Smith to capture Titans alive to use as test subjects, as they had long stopped doing that for bare time, along with a random survey-corps member called Ilse Langner's journey through a failed expedition. she has lost her horse and her team-mates, so she moves forward on her own, and decides to jot down whatever she finds on the way. its very interesting indeed, id like to see more stuff like this for suresies.
its also great to see the survey corps itself going on a mission slightly different to what we've seen before, the investigation-ey side of it is v gripping. it also feels a bit eery dare i say it!
everything is wonderfully animated as usual, and are treated to a great action-scene from Levai-Revai himself. it really gets you PUMPED
i must say they did a really good job with the Titan bit, its very creepy and the sounds it makes are horrific. the way it talks isn't really lame like i feared- though i do wish it sounded just a touch more, how do you say.... in-human. but its not too bad, its more then made up for by the in-pained screeches it makes after.
i think this is just an overall great story, and fun to watch too! it definitely gets me PUMPED for the next OVA they are working on, i wonder what its about- it cant come fast enough!!! FORGET THAT, WHAT ABOUT SEASON 2!???? I CANT WAIT FOR IT TO COME OUUUUTTTT! there are so many bits which would look just epic in anime-form!!

Kuroko No Basuke season 2 episode 25 rant

WARNING:

  • may contain spoilers
  • i am raging mad whilst writing this so do excuse if the following opinions may seem harsh.

to continue-
DISAPPOINTING! DIS-A-PONT-TING!!!!!!!!!!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGHHHHH SO MAD AND LET DOWN BY THE LAST EPISODE OF KUROKO'S BASKET!
*rams popcorn in thy's mouth and crunches sadly*
flipping Yosen VS Seirin has got to be one of the worst matches in the entire series, if not the worst! and i'll do my best to explain why i feel this way from here on.
oh Yosen, Yosen *shakes head* where do i begin with such a failure for a basketball-team?
AH, i know. perhaps the hardcore non-stop bragging and bigging up of BLOODY MURASAKIBARA ONLY TO FIND OUT IT WAS ALL TALK AND NO GAME!
and i do hate to yell at Murasakii here, as the lad as nothing more then a lad i really like- i say i do! for starters he is always eating which i can relate to, born in September (as stated in the bible) which i can also relate to, and also looks pretty cool and behaves in a hilar fashion. but with regards to basketball- he is the biggest let down on earth. i feel in a way the author let Murasakii down too, to me it seems he is capable of so much more and is actually an epic player- but in order to let that donkey Kagami win and shine in the moonlight he drastically weakened Mura's play and potential, and on purposely made his scenes very boring. it seems like if it was Yosen VS any other team it would be amazing to watch and Murasakii's dunks would be more bad-assly potrayed. i dont know if its just the anime which is being biased or if the manga makes the game just as crap*, but either way the results would still be the same, therefore making Murasakii a DISAPPOINTMENT!!!!!!!!!!
this is the problem you understand, they make out like Yosen is the Survey Corps of Kuroko No Basuke, but in actuality they're more like the Military Police. i feel if they hadn't banged on about and made an entire season of preparation to fight them it wouldnt have been as painful to watch.

they dont stop with just the pre-match-bragging how amazeballs they are, even during it they keep talking about 'Thors Hammer' and 'The Shield of Haggis' and how 'everythings so annoying no one can beat me bla bla' all that fuddy-duddy, yet despite all that they do JACK, and i mean JACK-ALL throughout the entire 5 eps or however long it is.
almost every episode consists of Seirin thrashing the opposing team like no tomorrow whilst the crowd gasps about how "HAYAI!" and "NAUNI-ATTINDAYO-" and "MASAKA!!!! KAGAMI TSUGOI-DESU HAYAI!", then as it draws to the end it shows Murasakibara steaming as he mutters "i'll crush you!". just as you get hyped up for the next ep thinking things will get intense on Yosen's side you are dropped of back at square one- with the entire 20 mins being focused on Taiga being super-sonic as everyones eyes pop out of their veins and they yell in shock "TSUGOINEH KAGAMI- HAIYAY!", then Murasakabira steams some more, goes in for a dunk but that earwig Kagami stops him with ease etc etc.

it really leaves you dangling. they didnt even do a good job making you feel there was even an inkling of danger, everytime Yosen seems like its getting together you know nothings really going to go anywhere, especially with cha-cha Kagami around.
this is the thing, everyone knows Seirin will win no matter what happens anyway, but i wouldnt have minded that if Yosen AT LEAST DID SOMETHING!!!!!!!!! you wont believe how much screen-time Kagami gets, slick-animation included. and yet all of Murasakibara's scene are so shoddily animated and they seem rushed. he always just looks like a giant titan with wind circulating as he tries (and i mean tries) to dunk (always failing of course, with pai-Kagami on the court, what can one expect). the moves arent very smooth, its allround painful and unfair to watch.
i was really rooting for Yosen, i WISH just so so WISH they were done more justice! why couldnt they have been more impressive!? im so mad!
its not just Muraskibara's complete and utter epic-fail debut and lack of skills, its Kagami's completely OP being able to do everything under the sun-ness.
i understand he is the ace, the whole story is to depict how shockingly good he is compared to the world- but even still. i never dreamed possible a character that could aggravate me more then Mikasa Ackerman, but woe to ignorance- again woe! that dogface tops the lot, he's the icing on the cake, the masala in a curry, the E-numbers within a doughnut. HE CAN FLIPPING DO EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!! ITS SO IRRITATING, THE WORST CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT IN THE UNIVERSE, HOW CAN ANYONE ACTUALLY ENJOY WATCHING HIM AND HAVE THE NERVE TO CALL HIM ''BOSS'', ''BEAST'', AND "BAD-ASS"!?. YES, IM SURE ITS BAD-ASS FOR HIM TO OUT OF NOWHERE BE ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH THAT WHICH NBA PLAYERS CANNOT ACCOMPLISH ALL WITH SHEER WILL!!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH! it cheeses me off so much that anyone can praise such an un-original character! his main skill is meant to be jumping higher then a flea! and yet what do we get? he can pull off anything under the moon when he's in the 'zone'. for starters he shouldnt be allowed to enter the zone so easily and their should be a major drawback for entering frequently, secondly in any zone you just get extremely focused therefore powering up- but only in the thing your already good at. you cant suck like crap at something then "oh, i'll go in the zone" and suddenly get a black-belt in it! but thats exactly what the douchebag does! his high-jumps, dunks and fastness arent the only things that increase off the charts, but suddenly he can do that AND three-pointers, buzzer-beaters, dribbling, point-guarding, passing, blocks, clutch-shots, vice-claws, parallel parking, air-walking, and flying. im not even joking about the flying, theres serious music playing as the crowd gasps "NANI-O!? AIR-WALKING!?? IMPOSSIBLE!", they actually try and pull off Kagami swerving and gliding in the air- they actually EXPECT me to buy that bullsheshayque.
its also annoying how every trick Himuro has quickly gets figured out and stopped within just try, wheras everything Kagami has to offer is untouchable and un-figurable. RAAAAAAAARGH! it made me really angry when Hyuuga likened Kagami's three-pointers to Midorima, that is just un-called for! same goes for when Kuroko says he's like HIM (meaning Aoimine), i mean, that is just disrespect on a whole 'nother level. you know what else i hate? the fact that EVERYONE within just two seconds of bouncing the ball around their legs get paralyzed and they are overcome with shiitake's, and yet Kagami? nein, nein, he is able to overcome all trials like that. i thought it was really realistic and great when he started breaking his ankles against Midorima, but does that stop him? no, he still was able to jump as high as a kite and with only one week of rehab. in this match Murasakibara doesnt even do anything and yet he still gets frozen to the floor when required to make a dunk. it seemed so out of nowhere and lame with no build-up, i actually was startled when that happened because he barely even exerted himself (unlike the Kise VS Aoimine matchup- then it was actually believable and cool). so thats really lame, if your going to be realistic with everyone elses aches and pains then what of Kagami's?
i can say that Kiyoshi was great to watch though. Seirin is a great team excluding Kagami. i love watching them play, i really hope we get to see more epicness from Kiyoshi, as well as Hyuuga, Izuki and Mitobe. i wish Mitobe would get an entire volume dedicated to him. id love to see more gameplay from the guy- as well as the secret behind why he doesnt talk. i also want more action from Izuki! an entire vols worth.
you know what!? i hope that Seirin gets to move forward and become no.1 like they intended or whatevs, but by the original members work and will. its annoying, but for now they seem to be solely relying on Kagami. what kind of nonsense is that? this is the upper-classmens' dream, they have to be the ones to grab the trophy. if Kagami gets them all the way through they might as well have not won in the first place because it isnt even a team effort.
^ this is how i feel currently

*btw i've started reading the manga chapter of Yosen vs Seirin and OH MY DAYS! I WAS SO RIGHT!!!!!! the anime is so flipping biased i tell you!!!!!!! Murasakibara is way more epic and his dunks looks really powerful, his play in general is more bad-ass! he doesnt just look like a fat beeve with a purple blob on his neck as portrayed in the anime, he actually looks more menacing and awesome.
same goes for Himuro, the guy looks less... how do i say *sways from side to side* y'know... in the anime some of his mirage maneuverments do look cool and all, but the manga still does more justice to him and Yosen overall. im loving it! i still wish they won though. and i still hate Kagami's guts and wish he dies in the near future (even though the meteor jam was quite bad-arse...)

aaaanyway, im sure i have more to say but i cant remember it all so thats all for now.
do tune in frequently for more such posts.
